Thorens' 1980s mid-range flagship moved to a leaf-spring suspended sub-chassis and a quieter 16-pole synchronous motor with electronic speed switching. Built to a very high standard, it ran through Mk II and Mk III versions into the mid-1990s.
A solidly built late Thorens suspended deck and a used-market sweet spot for German engineering.
Who it suits
Best suited to: buyers comfortable assessing used condition and budgeting for servicing (drive mechanism, bearing, stylus). Less ideal for: a no-hassle purchase with a manufacturer warranty — buy a current model instead.
