Luxman PD-151 MkII

Luxman PD-151 MkII

High-end turntables · 2022–present In production

£4,999 UK RRP

The Japanese luxury brand's belt-drive: a knife-edge-bearing tonearm and machined aluminium platter, with the immaculate build Luxman is known for.

Model history: The PD-151 MkII replaces the original PD-151/PD-151A after Luxman's longtime tonearm supplier Jelco closed down; it uses a new proprietary LTA-309 tonearm co-developed with SAEC (static balance, machined aluminium arm base, adjustable arm height) while keeping the earlier model's belt-drive platform and speed-control electronics.

Who it suits

Best suited to: an established system where the amp, speakers and room can resolve what this deck retrieves from the groove. Less ideal for: a first turntable — the same budget goes much further spent on mid-range separates first.
