A numbered limited edition of the 1200 finished in gold, produced in 2004 following the earlier gold SL-1200LTD of 1995. Mechanically an MK5-generation deck; the appeal is rarity and finish.

The collector's 1200 — boxed, low-numbered examples trade well above any standard MK2 or MK5.

Best suited to: buyers comfortable assessing used condition and budgeting for servicing (drive mechanism, bearing, stylus). Less ideal for: a no-hassle purchase with a manufacturer warranty — buy a current model instead.
