The RP3 modernised the Planar 3 with a lightweight plinth, double-brace technology between bearing and arm mount, and the improved RB303 arm. It was replaced by the redesigned Planar 3 in 2016.

Best suited to: buyers comfortable assessing used condition and budgeting for servicing (drive mechanism, bearing, stylus). Less ideal for: a no-hassle purchase with a manufacturer warranty — buy a current model instead.
