Built for Marantz by Clearaudio in Germany, the TT-15S1 pairs an acrylic plinth and platter with a floating motor, the Satisfy tonearm and a bundled Virtuoso cartridge worth much of the asking price. After a near 20-year run it has recently disappeared from production, with remaining stock selling through.
A rebadged-Clearaudio bargain whose bundled cartridge made it the value high-end deck of its generation.
Who it suits
Best suited to: buyers comfortable assessing used condition and budgeting for servicing (drive mechanism, bearing, stylus). Less ideal for: a no-hassle purchase with a manufacturer warranty — buy a current model instead.
