AR's 1980s revival of the classic suspended-subchassis formula, sold strongly in the UK as a budget audiophile deck and often upgraded with Linn or Rega arms. Simple, musical and tweakable.

Best suited to: buyers comfortable assessing used condition and budgeting for servicing (drive mechanism, bearing, stylus). Less ideal for: a no-hassle purchase with a manufacturer warranty — buy a current model instead.
